Discover UACD’s mission to support Utah’s conservation districts, empower landowners, and promote sustainable management of soil, water, and natural resources. About Us The Utah Association of Conservation Districts (UACD) is the state voice for Utah's 38 conservation districts (State Code Title 17D Chapter 3). The 38 districts along with 3,000 nationwide conservation districts, use a voluntary, incentive-based approach to protect soil, water, and other natural resources. The association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation with the main purpose of educating and supporting the work of 190 local appointed supervisors. These supervisors appointed by the Commissioner of Agriculture are officials who have statutory authority. The districts are trusted by private property owners and uniquely positioned to deliver technical and financial assistance available from various state and federal programs and agencies. The association is the local part of the federal/state/local conservation partnership (Utah Partners for Conservation & Development or UPCD), a partnership committed to providing conservation solutions. 2025 Stewardship Week & Education Stewardship Week, hosted by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of conserving natural resources. Celebrated since 1955, it remains one of the world’s largest conservation-focused observances. This year, Stewardship Week will occur from April 27 to May 4, from the last Sunday in April to the first Sunday in May. This year’s theme, “Home is Where the Habitat Is,” celebrates 70 years of Stewardship Week and highlights the vital role that natural and managed habitats play in supporting biodiversity and ecological balance. Throughout the week, conservation districts nationwide will engage communities with activities like field days, educational workshops, and poster contests, encouraging year-round stewardship efforts to protect and enhance our environment. Overview of Stewardship Week 2025 Dates: April 27 to May 4, 2025 Theme: “Home is Where the Habitat Is” – Celebrating 70 years of Stewardship Week, this theme underscores the importance of natural and managed habitats in supporting biodiversity and ecological health. Purpose: Organized by the NACD, Stewardship Week promotes conservation awareness and encourages community action to protect natural resources. 2025 UACD Annual Convention "Cultivating Resilience" November 5 - 6, 2025 Dixie Convention Center, St. George, UT Hilton Garden Inn St. George 435.634.4100 Make A Reservation Utah's very own Dustbowl Pat Hearty Pat recounts the story of the Dust Bowl era as it unfolded in the Grantsville area, highlighting the pivotal role played by the local conservation district in restoring the land. While the Dust Bowl is often associated with the Midwest, its impacts reached much farther—including Utah. The state experienced its own version of the Dust Bowl, with particularly severe consequences in the Stansbury Mountains, where overgrazing led to widespread soil degradation.
