Siberian Peashrub
(Caragana arborescens)

Siberian peashrub is a deciduous shrub or small tree. The leaves are three to five inches long, with each leaf composed of eight to twelve oval leaflets. The flowers are yellow and appear early in the season forming pods in late June or early July. Siberian Peashrub is valued as a nitrogen-fixing windbreaker. This thorny shrub provides cover and food for wildlife.

Purchase size: 18-24 inches
Price/10:
$35.00
Growth rate: moderate
Average height: 6-15 feet

Hardiness: Zone 2

Site requirements: Siberian Peashrub succeeds in most well drained soils. It prefers full sun and is tolerant of infertile soils, cold winter temperatures, and drought conditions. It tolerates alkaline soils and deicing salt. This plant's chief value is its ability to adapt to poor sites, requiring little maintenance.
